The Oak Orchard Fly Shop offers a variety of guided trips for the world class fly fishing that exists in the Western New York area. Our guides are homegrown, expert fly fishers who will adapt each outing to match the angler's level of experience. All our full-day trips include lunch. Each guide is fully licensed and insured.
Steelhead, Lake Run Trout and Salmon
From September through the following May, trophy size fish migrating from Lake Ontario and Lake Erie can be found in Western New York tributaries. The crowned jewel of the tributary fishery is the steelhead which averages six to ten pounds and is full of explosive power. Steelhead can be found from mid September through early May with October and November representing the prime months.
We also offer trips for beautiful lake-run brown trout which average and incredible five to twelve pounds. Brown trout can be found from mid October through December and also in early Spring.
Outings are also available for Chinook salmon and lake trout. Lake trout offer a unique fly fishing experience and can be caught while wading the banks of the Niagara River, but the most exciting fishing occurs on the open water of Lake Ontario while fishing from a boat.
Trophy Smallmouth Bass
Simply put Lake Erie and the upper Niagara River offer what is probably the best fly fishing for smallmouth bass in the country. Lake Erie smallmouth average three to four pounds and aggressively attack a fly. It is some of the most enjoyable fly fishing one will ever experience. The fishing is done from a boat using sinking lines and deep water flies as well as fishing near or on the surface.
Inland Trout
We also offer guided and instructional trips for trout on one of the many quality Western New York trout streams. Our trout trips are designed for you to enjoy the experience of one of the area's beautiful streams as well as becoming a better fly fisher. Actually, our trout trips can be designed to be mainly instructional in nature and represent an on-stream trout fishing class.

Payment & Refund Policy
A 50% deposit is required upon booking a trip. Prime dates fill in quickly, so it is recommended to book in advance. Deposits will be refunded in full if notice of cancellation occurs two weeks or more prior to the date of the trip. If less than two weeks, store credit or guide trip credit will be issued. If the trip is cancelled because of weather or water conditions, guide trip credit will be issued for a future date.
