IndividualistTM Our finest split cane rods are designed with a complex taper that runs from a delicate tip top to the distinctive T&T swelled butt. Individualist rods have two tips, each of which is a mirror image of the other...made from the same culm of bamboo with identical node positioning. Thomas & Thomas artisans give individual attention to a hand-rubbed, high-gloss varnish finish, hand-wrought nickel silver reel seats with burled walnut spacers and the finest quality cork grips. The unparalleled quality of these rods extends to such fine detail as the gently sculptured sliding band on the reel seat and the ultra-fine jeweler’s knurl at the edge of the sliding ring. Built from the finest individually selected Tonkin cane, the flamed bamboo is complemented by translucent guide wraps and medium brown wraps at the tip top and ferrules. Each rod comes with an aluminum tube finished with machined brass fittings. There are simply no finer split cane rods made, regardless of price.

ClassicTM Each Classic split cane rod is a two-piece design with a single tip and the same hand-crafted nickel silver reel seat components as the Individualist rods. Our exclusive impregnation process ensures an extremely durable, low-maintenance finish. Compound tapers produce a refined medium dry fly action that rewards you with superb line speed, excellent line control and increased distance. Each comes with its own rod bag and tube featuring the same brass fittings as are found on the Individualist.

Grips and Reel Seats for Individualist and Classic Split Cane Rods Rods for #2, #3 and #4 lines feature a nickel silver butt cap and sliding ring, oxidized black, with burled walnut reel seat spacer and Cigar grip.

Rods for #5 and #6 lines are fitted with hand-buffed nickel silver up-locking reel seat, mortised burled walnut spacer and Western grip. Individualist Grilse and Salmon models are fitted with hand-buffed nickel silver up-locking reel seat, mortised burled walnut spacer, Western grip and 2" detachable fighting butt.
